For years, Attack on Titan fans have been waiting for Omega Force to finish what it started. We flew through Trost, sliced a medically irresponsible number of Titan necks, befriended the Survey Corps, and then watched the game series stop before the anime reached its real ending. That changes with Attack on Titan 3 , the newly dated action game that promises to retell Hajime Isayama’s complete story from humanity’s earliest battles inside the Walls to the final, world shattering conflict. Koei Tecmo has confirmed a December 10, 2026 launch, giving us one more chance to strap on the ODM gear and immediately crash into a chimney because the camera moved at the wrong moment. More importantly, this does not look like a Final Season expansion pasted onto Attack on Titan 2. Omega Force is presenting it as the climax of the entire game series, with reimagined story events, improved Titan behavior, deeper squad management, new expeditions, and the long awaited arrival of all Nine Titans. When Is the Attack on Titan 3 Release Date? Attack on Titan 3 releases December 10, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam. No previous generation editions have been announced. The game is officially listed as a single player action title, so anyone hoping to assemble an online Scout Regiment may want to lower that salute. A Digital Deluxe Edition includes an in game art book, outfits, equipment, starter supplies, and 72 hour early access on supported platforms. The Nintendo Switch 2 version does not include early access. Does Attack on Titan 3 Cover the Entire Anime? This is the biggest reason the sequel matters. Attack on Titan 3 will cover the story from the beginning through the finale , rather than starting only with Season 4. Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom adapted the early anime storyline. Attack on Titan 2 retold much of that material through the eyes of a customizable Scout, while its Final Battle expansion continued through Season 3. The games stopped before Marley, the War for Paradis, and the Rumbling received full adaptations. Attack on Titan 3 finally closes that gap. The official roster already mixes early Scouts with later characters such as Gabi, Falco, Yelena, Onyankopon, and Floch. Omega Force says famous moments have been reimagined, which matters because longtime players have defended Trost enough times to qualify for a pension. The early chapters must feel rebuilt rather than recycled. The Custom Scout Protagonist Returns One of Attack on Titan 2’s smartest decisions was allowing players to create an original soldier who joined the 104th Cadet Corps. Instead of simply controlling Eren through scenes we already knew, we stood beside the cast, developed friendships, and experienced major events from a more personal angle. Attack on Titan 3 is bringing back that customizable protagonist concept. Players once again enter the story as a new Scout, interact with familiar characters at Regimental Headquarters, assemble a squad, and uncover additional character stories between battles. The big mystery is how this protagonist fits into the complete timeline. Attack on Titan 2 left the player character’s fate uncertain, but Koei Tecmo has not confirmed whether this is the same soldier. Existing Attack on Titan 2 or Final Battle save data will unlock a bonus on the same platform. That does not mean every friendship rank and terrible haircut will transfer, but it is a welcome nod to returning players. The Nine Titans Finally Take Center Stage Attack on Titan 3 places greater emphasis on battles involving all Nine Titans , which Koei Tecmo describes as a first for the game series. That opens the door to encounters featuring the Attack, Armored, Colossal, Female, Beast, Jaw, Cart, War Hammer, and Founding Titans. These are not simply larger versions of ordinary enemies. Their armor, speed, ranged attacks, construction abilities, military support, and world ending powers can completely change the structure of a mission. Omega Force is also promising new Titan attacks and behaviors. Experienced players eventually learned to dismantle most enemies with the same rhythm: anchor, accelerate, target the nape, and pray a tiny tree does not ruin humanity’s counterattack. More unpredictable Titans could force players to study movement patterns, protect squad members, adjust approach angles, and manage supplies under pressure. A new Casual Mode will also help newcomers enjoy the story without being repeatedly grabbed by a seven meter Titan with the posture of a haunted toddler. Exterior Scouting Missions Could Be the Best New Feature The most intriguing addition is the Exterior Scouting Mission system. These missions let players explore territory beyond the Walls, construct supply bases, eliminate dangerous Titans, and expand humanity’s domain. Fuel, blades, squad condition, and morale must be managed during expeditions. Players will have to decide whether to push farther into dangerous territory or retreat before injuries and dwindling resources turn a successful mission into a memorial ceremony. Squad composition matters because Scout Regiment members have individual skills and abilities. Building around combat strength, mobility, support, or resource management could add real strategy beyond selecting whichever character looks coolest flying through the air. Extended expeditions could make preparation as important as execution. Humanity does not lose only because Titans are strong; it loses because blades break, gas runs out, and someone always chooses the worst possible moment for a political betrayal. Is Attack on Titan 3 a Remake or a Sequel? The best answer is both . It is a sequel because it adapts Final Season material never covered by the previous Omega Force games. It is also a comprehensive retelling because it returns to the beginning and reworks earlier events so the full saga can exist in one title. That approach risks repetition, but beginning only with Season 4 would create a rough entry point for newcomers and separate the ending from the relationships that give it weight. Retelling everything also lets Omega Force update old missions with the new combat, squad, and exploration systems. The deciding factor will be how aggressively those chapters have changed. Nobody needs another nearly identical tutorial explaining that Titans should be attacked at the nape. We understood. The glowing target and twelve hours of characters screaming about it were persuasive. Do You Need to Play Attack on Titan 2 First? New players probably will not need to. Attack on Titan 3 is designed to tell the complete narrative from beginning to end, and Casual Mode makes it clear that Koei Tecmo wants this to work as a new entry point. Attack on Titan 2 remains worth playing because its custom character perspective turns the player into a participant rather than a spectator. Returning players will receive an unrevealed save data bonus when their save is stored on the same platform. Nobody should feel obligated to finish it before December. Attack on Titan 3 is positioned as the definitive experience, not a finale requiring several hundred dollars of historical homework. Why Attack on Titan 3 Has Real Potential Licensed anime games often settle for recreating famous scenes with acceptable combat and a roster large enough to decorate the box. Omega Force’s Attack on Titan games worked because their central mechanic genuinely matched the source material. ODM movement turned traversal into combat, and every Titan encounter balanced speed, positioning, resource use, and the possibility of becoming somebody’s upsetting lunch. Attack on Titan 3 could finally deliver the version fans always wanted: the entire anime storyline, a personal custom Scout perspective, modern hardware, deeper expeditions, meaningful squad building, and Titan battles built around the complete mythology. Important questions remain. We need to see how much content has truly been rebuilt, how the protagonist fits into the Final Season, whether performance stays stable during larger fights, and whether the later political story becomes satisfying gameplay instead of people standing in military offices looking extremely concerned. Even so, December 10, 2026 now feels like a genuine event for Attack on Titan fans . The anime has ended, the manga’s final page is behind us, and this may be the last major chance to experience the full journey as a member of the Scout Regiment. One final ride beyond the Walls sounds exhausting, traumatic, and terrible for our fictional life expectancy. Naturally, we will be there on day one.
